Blackhawks Duo Signs to Compete at Next Level
Two Blackhawks took the next step in their volleyball journeys as Jacque Adair and Leyra Ruiz Millayes signed to continue their careers at the collegiate level.
On Thursday, April 30, the Southeastern Community College volleyball team celebrated a special milestone as sophomores and freshmen alike took the next step in their athletic careers. The program hosted a signing day honoring Jacque Adair and Leyra Ruiz Millayes as they officially committed to continue their volleyball journeys at the next level.
Surrounded by teammates, friends, and athletic staff, both athletes signed their letters of intent, marking the culmination of their time with the Blackhawks and the beginning of new opportunities.
Leyra Ruiz Millayes, a sophomore from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, will continue her academic and athletic career at York University in Nebraska. A right-side hitter for Southeastern, Ruiz Millayes appeared in 48 matches over her two seasons, totaling 107 kills and 105 digs.
Beyond the stat sheet, Ruiz Millayes made a lasting impact through her leadership and energy. Known for her positive attitude, she consistently uplifted her teammates, bringing intensity and encouragement regardless of the outcome on the court.
Jacque Adair, a freshman from Macomb, Illinois, will transfer to Illinois Western University to compete at the Division I level. As an outside hitter, Adair made an immediate impact in her lone season with the Blackhawks, playing in 45 matches while recording 379 kills and 494 digs.
Adair's versatility and consistency allowed her to contribute in every rotation, excelling both offensively and defensively. Her work ethic and positive presence made her a key part of the team throughout the season.
The signing day not only highlighted the individual success of Ruiz Millayes and Adair, but also reflected the continued growth and development within the Southeastern volleyball program.
