Cross Country Competes in Indian Hills Invitational
West Burlington, IA-The Blackhawk Men and Women Cross Country teams competed over the weekend at the Indian Hills Invitational. It was a windy day but that did not stop the Blackhawks, all 6 athletes flew to the finish line with new lifetime PR's. Leading the way for the men was Dylan Steele running 29:02 for a finish of 52nd place. This was a PR of 3 minutes and 43 seconds. Owen Timmerman finished 68th with a new PR of 30:55, this was a PR of 3 minutes and 17 seconds. Rounding out the Men was Andrew Huhuyana, he finished 74th with a time of 34:17, this was Andrews first 8k of the year and averaged a faster pace for his 8k than he did in his season opener which was a 5k.
The Women had a great day as well, leading the way for the Women's team was Thalia Thomas. Thalia finished 29th place with a time of 22:48, this was a PR of 2 minutes and 24 seconds. Finishing two places behind for 31st was Lilly Garnsey, Lilly ran a 23:22 which was a PR by 3 minutes! Staying close to her teammates Makayla Wells finished in 32nd place with a time of 23:29 which was a PR by 2 minutes.
Next up for the Blackhawk Cross Country teams in the Region 11 Championships, the Regional meet will take place on Sunday, November 1st in Fort Dodge Iowa.
