Southeastern Community College Splits Road Trip, Highlights 3-1 Weekend with Milestone Win
NEW ORLEANS, La. / SUMMIT, Miss. — Southeastern Community College closed out a strong southern swing with a 3-1 weekend, highlighted by a milestone moment for head coach Justin Schulte.
With the Blackhawks' 7-6 win over College of DuPage on February 28, Schulte earned his 800th career victory at Southeastern, further cementing his legacy as one of the premier coaches in NJCAA baseball.
The weekend began with a setback before SCC rattled off three straight wins, including a road sweep of Southwest Mississippi Community College.
Delgado 8, SCC 2
SCC opened the trip February 27 with an 8-2 loss at Delgado Community College.
The Blackhawks jumped out early in the first inning when James Nydegger doubled home Efrain Osorio, and Kam Francois followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0. Delgado answered with a run in the first and used a four-run fourth inning to seize control.
Nydegger and Francois each drove in a run in the loss.
SCC 7, College of DuPage 6 — Schulte Earns No. 800
SCC responded with a thrilling 7-6 victory over College of DuPage — a win that marked No. 800 for Schulte in his tenure at Southeastern.
Jake Miller paced the offense, scoring three runs and collecting two doubles. James Nydegger added three hits and an RBI, while Kam Francois drove in two. VJ Schulte delivered two RBIs, and Tayvon Holomar contributed a sacrifice fly.
After the Blackhawks surrendered an early lead, the bullpen locked in. Sean Sanderson (2-0) earned the win with 1.2 strong innings and four strikeouts, and Grant Parker secured his second save of the season to preserve the historic victory.
SCC 9, Southwest Mississippi 7
SCC carried that momentum into Summit, Mississippi, rallying for five runs in the ninth inning to defeat Southwest Mississippi 9-7.
James Nydegger had a standout performance with a double, triple, and three RBIs. Efrain Osorio collected two hits and an RBI, while Jake Miller added a run scored and two stolen bases. VJ Schulte chipped in two hits and an RBI.
Isaac Flamino struck out 12 over five innings, and Colton Angell earned the win in relief. Grant Parker closed out the game for his third save of the year.
SCC 12, Southwest Mississippi 1
The Blackhawks capped the weekend in dominant fashion March 1 with a 12-1 run-rule victory.
Efrain Osorio reached base four times, scored four runs, and drove in one. Kam Francois tallied three RBIs, while Jackson Petsche added two hits and a run batted in. Gavin Awbrey doubled and drove in a run as SCC plated runs in six of seven innings.
Kyler Kaczmarksi was outstanding on the mound, tossing a complete game while allowing just three hits and one unearned run with six strikeouts.
The milestone victory for Schulte, combined with clutch late-inning hitting and strong bullpen performances, highlighted a 3-1 weekend for the Blackhawks as they continue to build momentum early in the 2026 campaign.
