Blackhawks Go 2–3 in Five-Game Stretch

BURLINGTON, Iowa — Southeastern Community College baseball went 2–3 from April 22–26, facing Kirkwood Community College and Northeast Community College in a stretch that featured four games decided by nine or more combined runs.
Southeastern opened the week on April 22 with a doubleheader against Kirkwood. In game one, the Blackhawks fell 12–3. Kirkwood scored four runs in the second inning and added three more in the third to build early separation. Southeastern finished with seven hits in the loss.
Game two developed into a back-and-forth contest, but Southeastern came up short, 12–11. The Blackhawks scored in four different innings, including a four-run sixth, but allowed eight runs between the fourth and sixth innings. Kirkwood added a run in the ninth that proved to be the difference.
On April 25, Southeastern swept a doubleheader from Northeast. In game one, the Blackhawks scored eight runs in the fourth inning to secure an 8–2 win. Kam Francois drove in four runs in the inning, accounting for half of the team's total.
In game two, Southeastern scored in four of the first five innings on the way to a 12–2 victory. Gavin Awbrey and Danny Rollins each homered, while the Blackhawks collected 13 hits in the game.
The series concluded on April 26 with a 14–11 loss. Southeastern led 11–9 after six innings before Northeast scored five runs in the eighth to take control. The Blackhawks recorded 16 hits in the game, including a five-RBI performance from Efrain Osorio, but were unable to close the gap late.
Southeastern totaled 45 runs across the five games while allowing 52.
The Blackhawks return to action following the 2–3 stretch.
