Southeastern took down Carl Sandburg in an 11-1 game on Tuesday.

Carl Sandburg – The Blackhawks travelled to Carl Sandburg Illinois to take on the Carl Sandburg College Chargers.

The Hawks offense took off from the start as Chase Wood turned around the first pitch of the game for a solo homerun to make the score 1-0. Braeden Brown followed with a single of his own and Zeb Adreon drew a hit by pitch but the Blackhawks were unable to push either baserunner across in the first.

Jacob Curry was called upon for his third start of his young college career. Curry did not disappoint. Jacob faced the minimum through the first two innings and struck out three of the first six batters he saw.

After the leadoff homerun, the offense was stymied until the top of the fourth inning when Braeden Brown drew a one out walk and Zeb Adreon hit his second homerun of his career pushing the score to 3-0. In the top of the 6th, the offense exploded for six runs on five hits and stole four bases in the inning. Back to back one out walks gave Braeden Brown an opportunity for a sacrifice fly making the score 4-0. The next five hitters had basehits, four of which going for extra bases. Zeb Adreon hit a two out double, followed by Luis Vargas, an Oswaldo Calderon single, Frank Guerrero single and a double from Marco Melgoza account for the next five runs. The score after the top of the sixth was 9-0.

Curry went out for his sixth inning of work, and allowed a run on one hit making the score 9-1. Curry was finished after the sixth but had a pitching line of six innings with one run on two hits and struck out five. Duane Cyr and Sam Powell finished up the game on the mound going two innings, allowing no hits and striking out five including a three strikeout performance by Cyr in his one inning of work.

Curry moves to 2-1 for the season.
